Introducing Liz… the new vicar at Hope Hamilton.
This is what Bishop Tim wrote to us:
“Following recent interviews I am writing to advise you that the Reverend Elizabeth (Liz) Rawlings has been offered the post of Minister of the Conventional District of Hamilton. I am pleased to say that she has now accepted this offer.
Liz is currently the Curate at St Augustine’s Church, Derby. Before ordination Liz worked as a Clinical Service Manager in the NHS and prior to that was a nurse working in the field of blood disorders. She trained for ministry at St John’s College, Nottingham and was ordained in the Diocese of Derby in 2006. ”
Liz was licensed by Bishop Tim on 20th April 2010. We welcome her to Hamilton and are excited about all that she brings to us.
We sometimes meet at Hope Hamilton School, sometimes in church members’ homes, sometimes elsewhere!
On most Sundays we meet for breakfast at 10am at Hope Hamilton School, followed by worship, Bible teaching, and other activities.
Mid-week our 3 small groups continue.
Please refer to our notice board – in front of Hope Hamilton School on Sandhills Avenue, Hamilton.

Welcome to
... opening new doors to belonging and belief …
Our vision is to be a Church for all nations, a vibrant and growing mission community that is a beacon of hope in Hamilton. We are committed to see God’s Kingdom grow through three key relationships:
‘Up’ being our relationship with God; we seek to be a worshipping and praying community. Believing that following Jesus gives meaning to life, we want to apply God’s word in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.
‘In’ being our love and commitment to one another; encouraging each other to live out our faith, have fun together, live a balanced life and to experience belonging.
‘Out’ represents our relationships with our wider community and our desire, working alongside the school, to be good news and to make a difference in Hamilton. We seek to be generous hearted, caring for the poor and those in need and offering Jesus’ hope of healing, wholeness and the restoration of broken relationships.
Hope Hamilton Church seeks to be an accepting group of people who are attempting to be Church as we journey in faith together.

Tea at Tesco’s… afternoon gathering for women at Tesco coffee shop – support, friendship and prayer.
Each Thursday at 1 pm a group of women meet for a cup of tea and a sandwich at the Hamilton Tesco cafe. The aim is friendship and support, a place to discover the love of Jesus. “For me this is church each Thursday” said one woman.

Men's BreakfastThe old adage that men don’t like to ‘talk’ has been seen to be a false premise.
Every other Saturday morning, at 9.00am, a group of men gather for breakfast, using Tesco’s revamped café in the Hamilton superstore. Apart from enjoying a ‘fry-up’ we also enjoy talking and sharing about almost anything – events in the week – personal and general, work, relationships, holidays, politics, football, rugby, food, pubs, church stuff – you name it – nothing is ‘off the agenda’ so to speak.
Why do we do this? Because it offers a great opportunity to make contacts, build relationships and to offer mutual support and encouragement – with respect to matters that relate to life in terms of the personal, the family, the church and to work as well as challenges and issues that have relevance to life in Britain today.

PrayerPrayer happens on many levels.
Daily: as a church we encourage everyone who can to come to the community room at Hope Hamilton School to pray together at 9 a.m Mondays to Thursdays.
Weekly: at our small groups on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Monthly: one Sunday a month the focus for our gathering is prayer and worship, prayer for the mission of our church and for the wider world. Prayer in this context happens in many varied and creative ways.
